LIVER CAKE TREATS
Ingredients:
500g liver*
500g self raising flour**
2 eggs***
1 cup milk****
2 teaspoons garlic granules or 2 cloves (not bulbs) garlic (optional) *****
Water (enough to make a sponge-batter like texture) ******
Method:
Liquidize the liver, eggs, milk and garlic until completely blended without any lumps.
Add the flour slowly spoon by spoon and blend again. When it starts getting really thick, then add the water slowly until all the flour is added. After all the flour is added, stop adding water when you have the consistency of sponge batter, so you need enough water for this.
Pour into an oiled shallow baking dish and bake at 190C FOR 40-50 minutes or until a knife inserted in the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool and then cut up into tiny pieces just slightly smaller than the size of a pea.
You can freeze the excess treats in freezer bags, defrosting when needed.
* If your dog can’t eat liver, replace with fish of choice, or minced turkey, lamb, beef or chicken.
** If your dog can’t eat self-raising flour, which is generally a wheat flour, then replace with rice, potato, or any other flour that your dog can eat.
*** If your dog can’t eat eggs, leave out the eggs.
**** If your dog can’t have normal milk, replace with goat’s milk, rice milk, coconut milk or whatever milk your dog can have or just add water.
***** If your dog can’t have garlic, leave it out.
****** If your dog can’t have water, get a new dog. Otherwise give up and go and buy some treats.
