Most issues require a full in-person consultation, but sometimes issues can be resolved through a shorter telephone or video consultation. If during the short remote consultation it seems that the issue required a full in-person consultation, we can arrange a full consultation and the cost of the remote consultation will be deducted from the full consultation. Remote consultations can take up to 30 minutes, and as they are carried out by telephone or online, you can be located anywhere in the world!
Please note, that if you would like to book a full in-person consultation and just want a 5-10 minute telephone conversation beforehand, this is separate and included in the price of the consultation free of charge.
Types of issues that a remote 30-minute consultation can cover advice on:
- Whether a dog’s behaviour issues are treatable and whether a Clinical Animal Behaviourist can help.
- Toilet training issues as many of these issues can be solved remotely.
- If you’re thinking of getting another dog. In such a consultation we can discuss the personality of your current dog and consider how an additional dog might fit in with your family. If we together come to the conclusion that another dog would suit your circumstances, I can talk you through the most suitable types of dog to consider and how best to introduce them.
- The best exercise for your dog, how much to give them and how best to get the most out of a walk.
- Improving your dog’s chances of a longer life. The average lifespan of U.K. dogs now is 10.4 years and with some changes to reduce stress, improve exercise and diet, I can explain to you how to improve your dog’s longevity.
- Noise phobias that can’t be resolved. Some noise phobias are too ingrained to be fully resolved as some dogs have been too traumatised by noises, such as fireworks. I can advise on whether your dog can be helped or not, and if not, provide some ongoing management advice or whether medication might be needed.
- Whether to have your dog neutered, whether it will resolve certain issues and the most appropriate age to undertake the procedure.
- Whether a puppy or dog will grow out of a particular behaviour. Some unwanted behaviours are ones that dogs/puppies will grow out as they mature. I can help you understand if things will get worse or better, and if you need to take action to stop unwanted behaviours developing into bigger and longer term issues.
- Taking your dog on holiday or finding good care for your dog when you go away.
- Other issues: if you have any other particular question or issue that you feel doesn’t warrant a full consultation or that fits into an ‘advice only’ category, please let me know and I will be able to advise if the issues can be resolved via a remote consultation.
The cost of the remote consultation is £50.
