A behaviour consultation for any problem generally lasts approximately two hours in your home, although if it takes longer, I will spend as long with you as it takes to fully address all of your dog’s behavioural issues.
During the consultation I will teach you all the techniques needed to address your dog’s particular issues. This involves assessing your dog and how you both currently interact inside your home.
I demonstrate all the required training both inside your home and also out on a walk where necessary, until I’m confident that you’re ready to implement the techniques alone.
The consultation includes:
- A typically approximately 2 hour assessment, demonstration of your dog’s behaviour modification requirements to address the issues.
- A personalised behaviour modification programme sent after the consultation to act as a reminder of the techniques demonstrated during the session and to guide you through the steps necessary to resolve your dog’s behaviour problems.
- Ongoing telephone/text/email/whatsapp support and advice for the life of your dog for all the issues covered in the consultation.
I have successfully treated a wide range of behavioural issues, including:
- Dog-to-dog reactivity/agression
- Dog-to-human reactivity/agression
- Recall issues
- Lead walking issues
- Separation anxiety
- Introducing dogs to new family members, including other animals
- Guidance on settling dogs into new homes, including establishing the fundamentals for good future behaviour
- Guidance on good behaviour inside and outside of the home, such as following instructions and reactions to fears
Above are the main reasons people contact me, but I also deal with unique problems. So, if you are experiencing a behaviour that you would like help with and think it is unusual, please get in touch, even if our discussion simply puts your mind at ease.
Please note: A behavioural consultation is completely different from a dog training class or course. In dog training, you generally learn generic dog training techniques such ‘sit’, ‘stay’ and walking to heel. A behaviour consultation from a Clinical Animal Behaviourist is a behaviour modification session that is tailored specifically for your dog.
The cost of the consultation is £250.
